New Pâtes Fraîches Restaurant In Long Beach Now Open To Serve Unique
Artisan
Pasta
Long
Beach, CA – Pâtes Fraîches Restaurant, located at 400 East First Street
(on the Southeast corner of 1st Street and Elm Avenue) in the East Village Art
District in Long Beach, is now open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant provides
Long Beach a unique dining experience by offering a trendy atmosphere
with a
variety
of
fresh
artisan
pasta at affordable prices.
Pâtes Fraîches (pronounced pat
fresh),
which means fresh pasta in French, is indicative of the restaurant’s specialty to make fresh
pasta daily out of organic wheat, rye, barely, buckwheat, rice and chestnut
flours.
These fresh pasta will be used to create unique dishes such as rice spaghetti
with a tofu stir fry, rye fettuccini with Virginia ham, zucchini and comté cheese
and a chestnut pappardelle with duck breast and crimini mushrooms in a crème
fraîche sauce.
A Local Restaurant That Is One Of
A Kind
The co-owners designed the restaurant
themselves. “We want to create
a
local restaurant that is one of a kind,” explained co-owners Richard
Lewis and Allard Kuijken. It feels modern but comfortable with a distinctive
wall of
brightly colored stripes. “We were inspired by a textile from the Southwest
of France. It had these colors that seemed traditional and fresh at the same
time and we wanted to capture that feeling,” said Lewis. “We think
the wall sets the tone of the restaurant.”
The restaurant’s long-term
goal is to develop sustainable relationships with local food vendors in order
to provide food that is fresh and produced responsibly.
Creating a variety of pasta from organic flours allows Pates Fraiches to
control what goes into its dishes literally from the grain
up.
“
We also want to be part of the neighborhood,” added Kuijken, “We
are looking forward to partnering with other businesses in the area and
participating in the monthly East Village art-walk by showcasing local
artists.”
The dining room has an intimate 38 seats
with 10 of them at an antique French farm table. “The
communal table will serve many functions for the restaurant,” explained
Lewis. “It offers people a chance to meet other people in the neighborhood
over a meal, or for a large group to celebrate a special occasion together.”
